Governor Granholm Statement on UAW Local 6000 Ratifying Tentative Agreement with Office of State Employer
March 22, 2010
LANSING - Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today issued the following statement regarding membership of the administrative support and human services bargaining units of United Auto Workers (UAW) International Local 6000 ratifying on Friday evening a tentative agreement reached in February with the Office of the State Employer:
"I appreciate the membership of UAW Local 6000 recognizing the challenges facing the state budget and helping us craft a solution by approving this agreement."
The agreement achieves UAW Local 6000's $15.9 million share of the $50 million in employee savings assumed in the fiscal year 2010 state budget and provides structural change in the form of a new health-care plan for employees hired after April 1, 2010.
UAW Local 6000 represents approximately 17,000 state employees in the administrative support and human services units with employees in every state department.
