Governor Granholm's Statement on Observance of Labor Day

Governor Jennifer M. Granholm issued the following statement today on the observance of Labor Day:

"For more than 100 years our nation has observed Labor Day to recognize the social and economic achievements of American workers, and to pay tribute to the contributions they have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.  This weekend as we celebrate the unofficial end to summer, let us remember the contributions made by hard working men and women who makeup Michigan's workforce, one of the most highly skilled in the world. Further, let recommit ourselves to the ongoing effort to retain the jobs we have and to create new opportunities that will allow working families to prosper in the 21^st century."
