Governor Granholm Appoints Three to MEDC Board and Executive Committee

LANSING - Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the following appointments to the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) Board and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation Executive Committee:
Dana Debel of Ann Arbor, director of state and local government affairs for Delta Air Lines. Debel is appointed to the MEDC Board for a term expiring at the pleasure of the governor. She also is appointed to the MEDC Executive Committee to represent the general public for a term expiring April 5, 2015. She succeeds Peter S. Walters who has resigned.
Dr. Ann Marie Sastry of Ann Arbor, CEO and president of Sakti3. Dr. Sastry is appointed to the MEDC Board for a term expiring at the pleasure of the governor. She also is appointed to the MEDC Executive Committee to represent the general public for a term expiring April 5, 2018. Dr. Sastry succeeds Stanley Pruss whose term has expired.
Dayne Walling of Flint, mayor of the City of Flint. Mayor Walling is appointed to the MEDC Board for a term expiring at the pleasure of the governor. He also is appointed to the MEDC Executive Committee to represent public agencies for a term expiring April 5, 2012. Mayor Walling succeeds Steven Liedel who has resigned.
The Michigan Economic Development Corporation Board authorizes and approves the MEDC annual audit and evaluates the performance of the MEDC. The Michigan Economic Development Corporation Executive Committee oversees the corporation and the CEO of the corporation.
These appointments are not subject to the advice and consent of the Michigan Senate.
