LANSING, Mich. - Gov. Rick Snyder today announced appointments to the Board of Cosmetology.
The board licenses and regulates the practice of cosmetology in Michigan.
"I appreciate the willingness of these two individuals to use their talents and expertise to serve Michigan," Snyder said.
Angela River and Andrea Schroeder are appointed to serve four-year terms expiring Dec. 31, 2014.
River, of Auburn Hills, is the owner, image consultant and artistic designer of DARe Salon and Image Studio. She has more than 23 years of stylist experience, including work at Renee's Salon, London Hair Co. and Glitz Salon. River is a member of the Auburn Hills Senior Home Assistance Repair Program (SHARP) Steering Committee. She studied in the business program at Oakland Community College. River replaces Kathryn Spiller, to represent licensed cosmetologists.
Schroeder, of Clarkson, is a partner of Strategic Five Business Solutions. She previously served as the vice president of sales and marketing for Relocation Information Systems and as the director of Worldwide Strategic Alliances for Oakwood Worldwide. Schroeder earned a bachelor's degree from Miami University of Ohio and participated in the Michigan Political Leadership Program at Michigan State University. She replaces Theodore Lakkides, to represent the general public.
Appointees are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
