LANSING, Mich. - Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Cheryl Shooltz to the Michigan State Housing Development Authority.
The board provides financial and technical assistance through public and private partnerships to create and preserve safe and decent affordable housing, engage in community economic development activities, develop vibrant cities, towns and villages, and address homeless issues.
"Cheryl's unique life experiences will be an invaluable asset to the MSHDA Board as they work to help ensure quality, low cost housing for Michiganders in need while ensuring effective use of resources," Snyder said.
Shooltz, of DeWitt, is a cashier for Meijer. She has held many positions, with experience as a salesperson, a childcare provider, an environmental service technician and as a front desk clerk. She currently studies at Cornerstone University.
Shooltz will serve the balance of a four-year term expiring March 10, 2014. She will serve as the resident member and replace Tonya Gatson. The appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate
