LANSING, Mich. -- Gov. Rick Snyder today appointed Ronald Edwards to the Michigan Ski Area Safety Board.
The board was created to license and regulate ski areas and ski lifts.
"Ronald's extensive experience in the engineering industry and on ski patrol will play a valuable role as the board continues to ensure the safety of Michigan's ski industry," Snyder said.
Edwards, of Beulah, is the president of RWE Consulting LLC. He was a member of the National Ski Patrol from 1976 to 2008, serving as patrol director and assistant regional director. Edwards has extensive engineering experience, including serving as operations manager for GM's North Hollywood Design Studio and as senior engineering manager for GM's Powertrain/Chassis Integration Division. He earned bachelor's degrees in packaging engineering and mechanical engineering from Michigan State University and a master's degree in engineering science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y.
Edwards will represent engineers with ski experience and replaces William Topham. His four-year term expires June 8, 2015, and is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
