State Board of Accountancy appointment made

LANSING, Mich. - Gov. Rick Snyder today appointed James Bayson to the State Board of Accountancy.
The board is responsible for the certification and licensing of certified public accountants and public accounting firms.
"As an experienced public accountant, Jim will provide valuable insight and skill to the board as it oversees the practice of accounting in Michigan," Snyder said.
James Bayson, of West Bloomfield, is a retired certified public accountant and partner of the Assurance Department at Plante & Moran. He also served as director of the Automotive Services Division and as chairman of the firm's Audit Practice Committee. Bayson serves on the board of directors for the American Red Cross of Southeastern Michigan, Archdiocese of Detroit, Judson Center and Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants. He earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Michigan.
Bayson will represent the general public and replaces Sally Fedus. He will serve a four-year term expiring June 30, 2015, and is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
