LANSING, Mich. - Gov. Rick Snyder today announced Catherine Garcia-Lindstrom of Walker will serve as chair of the Crime Victim Services Commission.
The commission works to increase and enhance victim assistance in communities throughout Michigan.
“Catherine’s impressive background and experience in law enforcement will play a vital role on the commission and I am confident she will work hard to help crime victims recover,” Snyder said.
Lindstrom has more than 36 years of experience in law enforcement and is currently the public safety director of the Walker Police and Fire Departments. She previously served 11 years as the Walker chief of police and 25 years with the Detroit Police Department. Lindstrom also teaches criminal justice as an adjunct professor at Grand Valley State University. She earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Michigan-Dearborn and a master’s degree in interdisciplinary technology specializing in police technologies from Eastern Michigan University.
Lindstrom’s term on the board expires Sept. 27, 2013. She serves as chair at the pleasure of the governor.
