Bill protecting welfare exemption for people with disabilities signed into law
December 02, 2011
LANSING, Mich. - When the Legislature approved welfare reform legislation limiting cash assistance to four years, lawmakers included an exemption for people with disabilities.
House Bill 5114, sponsored by state Rep. Ken Horn and signed into law by the governor on Monday, is a technical fix that protects this exemption by repealing another portion of conflicting law. The bill is now Public Act 240 of 2011.
