Patrick Wykes appointed to Board of Athletic Trainers

LANSING, Mich. - Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Patrick Wykes of Holland to the Michigan Board of Athletic Trainers, which oversees the practice of athletic trainers in Michigan.
"Patrick has tremendous experience and skill in the field of athletic training and I am confident he will use his knowledge and expertise to ensure that Michigan athletes are given the proper treatment to prevent and care for sports injuries," Snyder said.
Wykes is the head athletic trainer at S3 Sports Performance Institute in Spring Lake, is a certified athletic trainer for both Shoreline Sport and Spine Physical Therapy and for Grand Haven High School. He also serves as an adjunct professor at Grand Valley State University. At S3 Sports Performance Institute, Wykes designs training programs for athletes of a variety of ages and teaches strength and condition programs to athletes. He earned a bachelor's degree in athletic training and sports medicine and a master's degree in athletic administration, both from Central Michigan University.
Wykes will serve a four-year term expiring Dec. 31, 2015, and replaces Laurie Ryan. The appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
