LANSING, Mich. - Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Charles N. Secchia, of Grand Rapids, to the Grand Rapids-Kent County Convention/Arena Authority.

This seven-member board oversees Van Andel Arena, DeVos Place and DeVos Performance Hall in Grand Rapids.

"Charles brings innovative and extensive experience in business and international relations to this group," said Snyder. "He is a pillar within the community and will do great work to help oversee and promote Grand Rapids."

Secchia is owner/partner in Attico Ventures LLC and Sibsco LLC, a commercial real estate investment and asset management firm in Grand Rapids. Previously, he worked as a manufacturer's representative for Secchia LTD in Italy, a company he also owned, and as an international purchasing, business development and project manager for Lear Corp. Secchia earned a bachelor's degree in international affairs from John Cabot University in Rome and studied Egyptology and archaeology at the University of Chicago in Luxor, Egypt.

Secchia will serve a four-year term ending Feb. 29, 2016, and replaces Gary McInerney. His appointment is not subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
