LANSING, Mich. - Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the reappointments of Diane Garrison, of Holt, and Kevin McGaffigan, of Albion, to the State Police Retirement Board.
The nine-member board oversees the Michigan State Police (MSP) Retirement System.
"Both Diane and Kevin bring extensive experiences as state police officers," said Snyder. "I am confident they will continue to help the board ensure our public safety professionals receive the retirement benefits they have earned."
After 25 years of service with the MSP, Garrison retired with the rank of first lieutenant, last serving as commander of the Flint Post. She is the executive director of the Michigan State Police Command Officers Association and has been a member of the State Police Retirement Board for six years. Garrison earned a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Eastern Michigan University and a master's degree in public administration from Western Michigan University. She will represent MSP retirees and serve a three-year term that expires Dec. 31, 2014.
McGaffigan is captain and commanding officer for the 1st District headquarters in Lansing. Previously, he worked as field service bureau staff, post commander in Hastings, defensive tactics coordinator, recruit school commander and a state trooper. McGaffigan has been a member of the State Police Retirement Board for three years. He holds an associate degree in metallurgical engineering and a bachelor's degree in business and marketing, both from Ferris State University. McGaffigan will represent members of the retirement system with the rank of lieutenant or above, and serve a three-year term that expires Dec. 31, 2013.
