LANSING, Mich. ? Gov. Rick Snyder today appointed Dr. Ronald Goldsberry to the Financial Advisory Board (FAB) recently formed between the state and city of Detroit.
The appointment marks the third and final appointment for the governor as provided for in the consent agreement.
"Ron Goldsberry is committed to a strong, revitalized Detroit," Snyder said. "The reinvention of Michigan depends on it, and his participation will be beneficial."
Goldsberry, of Bloomfield Hills, is an automotive consultant for Deloitte Consulting. He previously worked for Ford Motor Co. for 16 years, retiring as vice president of global service business strategy. He also served as a captain in the U.S. Army, and as a research chemist for NASA. He holds a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Central State University, a Ph.D. in chemistry from Michigan State University, and an MBA from Stanford.
The Financial Stability Agreement requires FAB members to have at least 10 years of experience with sophisticated municipal financial transactions; complex, multidimensional governmental restructurings; governmental labor relations, health care benefits or pension matters, or local government management. Appointees have also had their qualifications confirmed by the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants or the Michigan Government Finance Officers Association.
