Governor reappoints Dan Nixon to State Plumbing Board
May 29, 2012
LANSING, Mich. - Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the reappointment of Dan Nixon, of Sterling Heights, to the State Plumbing Board.
The seven-person panel, created in 2002, oversees the licensure of plumbers and makes orders, rules and regulations to ensure the integrity of Michigan's plumbing industry.
"Dan has effectively served this board since 2009 and I am confident his background and pertinent experiences will continue to support the board in its mission," said Snyder.
Nixon serves as a business agent for Plumbers Local 98, where he represents more than 1,700 members and signatory contractors in the metro Detroit area. He works with the Michigan Building and Construction Trades Council, Mechanical Contractors Association and serves as chairman of the Plumbers Local 98 Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee. A licensed journeyman plumber, Nixon has worked in industrial, commercial and residential plumbing since 1987. He attended Oakland University before completing a five-year apprenticeship program with Plumbers Local 98.
Nixon will continue to represent licensed journeyman plumbers for a three-year term that expires June 30, 2015, and his appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
