LANSING, Mich. ? Gov. Rick Snyder today issued the following statement as the Detroit Tigers begin the 2012 World Series against the San Francisco Giants.
"The Detroit Tigers carry with them the hopes of a proud city and state. It has been a season of ups and downs but the team's commitment to its goals and to each other has paid off through hard work and perseverance. It is the type of work ethic, instilled by Mike Ilitch and his family through decades of devoted leadership, which has brought success to the team and city. The Tigers bring Michiganders together in a positive way, and together we stand behind them as they seek their fifth major league championship. Here's to a great World Series. Go Tigers, and bring one home for Detroit and the state of Michigan."
