Governor makes appointments to Ferris State University board of trustees

LANSING, Mich. - Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointments of Erin Brown, of East Lansing, and Lori Gwizdala, of Bay City, to the Ferris State University board of trustees.

The eight-person board is the governing body of the university.

"Erin and Lori bring outstanding leadership and professional experiences to this board, and I am thankful for their willingness to serve the students, faculty and staff of Ferris State University," said Snyder.     

Brown is a strategic adviser and project manager for Rockford-based Holton Research LLC, a position she has held since 2008. Brown is also adjunct marketing faculty at Michigan State University. Previously, she served as adjunct marketing faculty at Grand Valley State University and as government relations supervisor, industry and community affairs manager and corporate citizenship manager for Amway Corp. Brown holds a bachelor's degree in legal and business administration from Grand Valley State University and a master's degree in international management and marketing from Aquinas College. She replaces Ronald Snead.

Gwizdala is executive vice president, chief financial officer and treasurer of Midland-based Chemical Financial Corp., where she has worked since 1985. Before serving in her current roles, Gwizdala held the position of controller. She is a certified public accountant and a member of MidMichigan Health's audit and finance committees. Gwizdala received a bachelor's degree in business administration from Central Michigan University. She replaces George Menoutes.   

Appointees will serve eight-year terms that expire Dec. 31, 2020, and their appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
