Governor makes appointment, reappointment to State Transportation Commission

LANSING, Mich. - Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Lynn Afendoulis, of Grand Rapids, and the reappointment of Jerry Jung, of Birmingham, to the Michigan State Transportation Commission.   

The six-member commission is the policy-making body for all state transportation programs.

 

"Lynn and Jerry are outstanding professionals, and bring exceptional experiences to the commission," said Snyder. "I am thankful for their willingness to serve."  

 

Afendoulis is director of corporate communications for Universal Forest Products Inc., where she oversees public and investor relations, internal and executive communications and community affairs. She previously held positions in communications for Benteler Industries and The Greystone Group, and worked as a reporter for The Grand Rapids Press and The Tampa Tribune. Afendoulis holds a bachelor's degree in journalism from Michigan State University. She replaces Linda Miller Atkinson.

 

Jung is chairman of Oak Adaptive Inc., a Novi-based software development company which specializes in services for Caterpillar dealerships. He previously served as a trustee for The Nature Conservancy in Michigan and is a current member of the Michigan League of Conservation Voters board. Jung earned a bachelor's degree in economics from Tulane University in Louisiana.

 

Appointees will serve three-year terms that expire Dec. 21, 2015, and their appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
