Snyder makes appointment to Residential Builders', Maintenance, Contractors' Board

LANSING, Mich. - Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Thomas Thelen, of Westphalia, to the Residential Builders' and Maintenance and Alteration Contractors' Board.
Created in 1980, the nine-member board licenses and regulates the construction, alteration or improvement of residential structures.
"Thomas brings more than 30 years of residential and commercial construction experience to the board," said Snyder. "He is a great choice for this post and I am thankful for his willingness to serve."
Thelen is owner of Benjamin Thomas Carpentry LLC. He previously served as a carpenter foreman for DSI Acoustical and Bouma Interiors. Thelen studied building and architecture at Lansing Community College, and holds a Michigan maintenance and alterations contractor license. He will represent maintenance and alteration contractors, and fills the vacancy created by the resignation of Jennifer Flack.
Thelen will serve a four-year term that expires March 31, 2016, and his appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
