Reappointment made to Board of Physical Therapy

LANSING, Mich. - Gov. Rick Snyder has reappointed Vijay Kumar, of West Branch, to the Michigan Board of Physical Therapy.
The 11-member board plays an advisory role, and assists the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs with overseeing the practice of physical therapists.
"Vijay is an outstanding professional and has shown great commitment to the practice of physical therapy in Michigan," said Snyder. "I am thankful for his willingness to continue service on the board."
Kumar is director and administrator of West Branch-based Advanced Downtown Aquatic Physical Therapy, chief executive officer of Community Rehabilitation Services in Rose City and coordinator of clinical education for Baker College of Flint and Allen Park and Oakland University's Doctor of Physical Therapy program. He holds diplomas in physical therapy, rehabilitation medicine and sports medicine, a master's degree in physical therapy from Patna Medical College and Hospital in India, a Ph.D. in social science from Bihar University in India, a medical degree from Xavier University in Ohio, and a doctor of physical therapy degree from Boston University. Kumar will continue to represent professionals.
Kumar will serve a four-year term that expires Dec. 31, 2016, and his appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
