Special election called to fill vacated seat in 49th state House district
May 15, 2013
LANSING, Mich. - Gov. Rick Snyder today called a special election in the 49th District of the state House of Representatives to fill the vacancy created when former state Rep. Jim Ananich was sworn in as state senator of the 27th District.
"This special election will ensure area residents have full representation in the Legislature as quickly as possible while coinciding with certain previously scheduled elections to help ensure minimized financial burdens to local communities in the district," Snyder said.
The special election will be Tuesday, Nov. 5, and a primary election would be Aug. 6 if necessary.
