Snyder commends U.S. Rep. John Dingell for milestone in service to Michigan, nation

Lansing, Mich. - Gov. Rick Snyder today offered the following statement regarding the public service milestone achieved by U.S. Rep. John Dingell:

 

"I'm proud to join the citizens of Michigan and our nation in congratulating Congressman John Dingell on becoming the longest serving member of Congress in American history.  Our state and our country owe great thanks to Congressman Dingell for his leadership and devotion to public service.

 

"During his 57 years in Congress, John Dingell has been a champion for civil rights, clean air and clean water, and affordable health care. Most of all, he has been a champion for Michigan and its people.  He has worked tirelessly to advance the interests of our state and all Michiganders.

 

"The United States and Michigan have been truly fortunate to have John Dingell serving them.  He has brought great honor to himself, our state and our nation and continues to build on his historic legacy of leadership and service."
