Snyder makes appointment to Carnival-Amusement Safety Board
August 28, 2013
LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of John Burrows, of Escanaba, to the state Carnival-Amusement Safety Board.
The board assists the Department of Licensing & Regulatory Affairs with inspections of traveling shows and amusement parks that operate in Michigan and with other fixed locations with rides.
“John’s experience will be a tremendous asset to this board,” Snyder said.
Burrows is operations manager for Escanaba-based Skerbeck Brothers Shows Inc., a position he has held since 2000. He is responsible for the management of more than 60 employees and for overseeing all amusement ride construction and dismantling. He is a nationally certified safety supervisor and inspector of carnival equipment and is an Amusement Industry Manufacturer and Suppliers Level 2 Carnival Operations Technician. Burrows attended Western Michigan University. He will represent carnival ride operators and replaces Martin Heppler.
Burrows will serve a four-year term expiring July 10, 2017, and his appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the state Senate.
