Snyder makes appointment to Board of Residential Builders and Maintenance and Alteration Contractors

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Colleen Shannon, of Traverse City, to the Board of Residential Builders and Maintenance and Alteration Contractors.

Created in 1980, the nine-member board assists the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs with licensing and regulating the construction, alteration or improvement of residential structures.

“Colleen is a talented professional and I look forward to the contributions she will make on this board,” Snyder said.

Shannon is project manager for Lankford Design in Traverse City. Previously, she worked as project manager for Paul Fitzsimons Architect, project manager and architectural designer for Red Management and Bay Shores Construction, and architectural designer for Architecture Artistry Interiors. She is involved in many community service activities around the Traverse City area, including GirlTech Seminar Speaker, Big Brothers-Big Sisters and Con Foster Museum. Shannon has a bachelor’s degree in environmental design from Miami University in Ohio, and a master’s of architecture from the University of Pennsylvania. She will represent the general public and replaces Joe Agostinelli, who resigned.

Shannon will serve the remainder of a four-year term expiring March 31, 2015, and her appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the state Senate.
