Owdziej has over three decades of experience as a practicing attorney. She currently serves as deputy register at the Washtenaw Probate Court where she advises all legal matters and oversees minor guardianship and conservatorship hearings. She is a referee at the Washtenaw County Juvenile Court, presiding over a variety of juvenile delinquent and abuse and neglect hearings.
Previously, Owdziej worked as an assistant prosecuting attorney in Washtenaw County and served as a state of Michigan assistant attorney general. She previously served on the board of directors of the COPE alternative education program and was a member of the Washtenaw County Child Death Review Team, Michigan School-Justice partnership and the Washtenaw County task force on educating at risk youth.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Michigan State University and a degree from the Detroit College of law.
Owdziej fills the vacancy created by the resignation of Judge Nancy C. Wheeler. She must seek election for a six-year term this November.
