Snyder makes appointment to Veterans Trust Fund board of trustees
July 10, 2014
LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Brandi McBride, of Hudsonville, to the Michigan Veterans Trust Fund board of trustees.
The seven-member board oversees trust fund expenditures and awards grants to eligible veterans and their families to relieve temporary financial crisis or hardship.
“I thank Brandi for her service to our country, and I know she will be an asset to the board,” Snyder said.
McBride served in the Air Force from 1999-2007 and was stationed in the United Arab Emirates and Iraq. She also served as commanding officer, Combat Support Flight, at Spangdahlem Air Base in Germany. She is currently veteran services manager for Goodwill Industries of Greater Grand Rapids. She previously worked as a project manager for veteran employment for TALENT 2025. McBride earned a bachelor’s degree in outdoor recreational science from Baylor University. She will represent veterans and replace Marita Okerstrom, who resigned to accept an appointment to the Michigan Homes for Veterans board of managers.
McBride will serve the remainder of a three-year term expiring Feb. 25, 2015. Her appointment is not subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
