LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Andrew Mac, of Plymouth, to the Michigan Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.

Housed within the Michigan Department of Community Health, the 11-member board advises the department on issues affecting prescription drug coverage for its various health care programs.

"Andrew brings valuable experience to the committee and I am confident he will be an asset,” said Snyder.

Mac is the vice president of pharmacy operations for Sav-On Drugs Inc. He served as director of pharmacy operations for Specialized Pharmacy Services-West and Sav-On Drugs. Mac earned a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from Wayne State University. He will represent pharmacists and fills the vacancy created by the resignation of Derek Quinn.

Mac will serve the remainder of a two-year term expiring Oct.1, 2014. His appointment is not subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
