Snyder makes appointment to Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Monument Fund Commission

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Mary Johnson, of Okemos, to the Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Monument Fund Commission.

The seven-member commission oversees the financing, design and construction of Michigan's future Law Enforcement Officers Memorial.

“I appreciate Mary’s willingness to serve on this commission and I look forward to her contributions,” Snyder said.

Johnson is a police officer with the Michigan State University Police Department and is the federal and state liaison. She is a member of the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators and the International Association of Chiefs of Police. Johnson earned her associate degree from Lansing Community College and her bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University. She will represent an individual nominated by the Michigan State Troopers Association who is a survivor of a state trooper that was killed while on duty.

Johnson will serve the remainder of a four-year term expiring June 30, 2016. Her appointment is not subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
