Snyder makes reappointments to State Waterways Commission

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the reappointments of Alex Declercq, of Grosse Pointe Park, and Gary Marowske, of Grosse Pointe Farms, to the State Waterways Commission.
Housed within the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, the seven-member commission is responsible for the acquisition, construction and maintenance of recreational harbors, channels, docking and launching facilities, and administration of commercial docks in the Straits of Mackinac.
"Alex and Gary have been thoughtful and productive members of the commission and I look forward to their continued service," said Snyder.
Declercq is president and owner of Doyle Sails Detroit. He worked for North Sails before joining Doyle Sails in 1979. Declercq earned a bachelor’s degree from Eastern Michigan University and a master’s degree from the University of Detroit. He continues to represent the marine-trades industry and does not own or operate a harbor or marina.
Marowske is president of Flame Heating, Cooling, Plumbing, and Electrical. He is a past director of the Grosse Pointe Yacht Club and past director of the Grosse Pointe Power Squadron. Marowske earned a bachelor’s degree from Valparaiso University. He continues to represent the general public.
Appointees will serve three-year terms expiring Sept. 18, 2017. Their appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
