Snyder makes appointments to Michigan Community Corrections Board

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Dennis Van Dam, of Hudsonville, to the Michigan Community Corrections Board.

The 13-member board advises the director of the Michigan Department of Corrections and is charged with approving components of community corrections programs.

"I thank Dennis for his willingness to serve our state in this important role," said Snyder.

Van Dam is a broker with Visser Development, where he has more than 30 years of experience. He is an Ottawa County commissioner, a member of the Michigan Association of Counties Judiciary and Public Safety Committee, and a member of the West Michigan Enforcement Team Policy Board. Van Dam studied at Ferris State University and Grand Valley State University. He represents county commissioners and replaces Jon Campbell.

Van Dam will serve the remainder of a four-year term expiring March 31, 2015. His appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
