LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the reappointment of Sam Cummings, of Grand Rapids, to the Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund Board.
The board oversees the Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund, which was created in 1976. It provides financial assistance to local governments and the Department of Natural Resources to purchase land or rights for public recreation or protection of land because of its environmental importance or its scenic beauty. The program also provides funding for trail and park development projects.
“It is a priority that we continue to protect Michigan’s natural resources and provide outdoor recreation opportunities,” Snyder said. “I am pleased to reappoint Sam to the board.”
Cummings is principal and managing partner of CWD Real Estate Investment with more than 20 years of experience in the industry. Prior to forming CWD, Cummings was founding principal and president of Second Story Properties. He sits on the board of The Right Place, the Grand Rapids Art Museum, and the Grand Valley State University Foundation. Cummings earned bachelor’s degrees in business and English from Calvin College.
Cummings will serve a four-year term expiring Oct. 1, 2018. His appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
