Snyder makes appointment to Soybean Promotion Committee
February 12, 2015
LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Thomas Hess, of Vassar, to the Michigan Soybean Promotion Committee.
The committee oversees the soybean marketing program and is housed within the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.
“I am confident that Thomas’ farming experience will be an asset as he supports Michigan’s food and agriculture industry,” Snyder said.
Hess is owner and operator of Hess Farms. Hess Farms has focused on no-till “ecological” farming for more than 30 years. Hess earned a degree in agricultural technology from Michigan State University. He represents District 5 growers and fills the vacancy created by the resignation of Mark Seamon.
Hess will serve the remainder of a three-year term expiring Sept. 23, 2015. His appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
