May 07, 2015
LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the reappointment of Ronald Wiser, of South Haven, to the Michigan Education Trust board of directors.
Housed within the Michigan Department of Treasury, the nine-member board oversees the function of the MET program, a 529 prepaid tuition program that helps Michigan residents save for higher education while avoiding rising tuition rates. The MET board also serves as an advisory board for the Michigan Education Savings Program.
"I appreciate Ron’s continued support of Michigan’s education goals. I am confident he will do great work to ensure our students remain a priority as we strive to keep college affordable and accessible for all," said Snyder.
Wiser is chairman of The Wiser Financial Group, where he is a leader in the field of retirement planning, investment and tax guidance. Wiser serves on the Kalamazoo Board of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors. He continues to represent nominees of the Speaker of the House.
Wiser will serve a three-year term expiring Dec. 31, 2017. His appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
