Gov. Rick Snyder makes reappointments to Board of Examiners in Mortuary Science

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the reappointments of Stephen Linder, of Okemos, and Rodney Wakeman, of Saginaw, to the State Board of Examiners in Mortuary Science.
The nine-member board provides oversight for the state's nearly 750 funeral homes and more than 2,100 mortuary science licensees.
“I appreciate the willingness of Steve and Rodney to continue serving on the board, and I look forward to their continued input on issues of mortuary science,” Snyder said.
Linder is the president of the Sterling Corporation. He is a professional fundraiser and coalition builder. Linder earned a bachelor’s degree in communications arts from Michigan State University. He continues to represent the general public.
Wakeman is the co-owner, vice president, and director of Wakeman Funeral Home, Inc. Wakeman earned an associate’s degree in pre-mortuary science from Delta College, a certificate of mortuary science from Wayne State University, and a certified funeral service practitioner designee from the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice. He continues to represent professionals.
Members serve four-year terms expiring June 30, 2019. Their appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
