Gov. Rick Snyder makes appointments, reappointment to Michigan Beef Industry Commission

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointments of Leonard Brown, of Sandusky, and Jon Haindl, of Cooks, and the reappointment of Dale Oeschger, of Bay Port, to the Michigan Beef Industry Commission.
The nine-member commission promotes the sale of beef and beef products in the state.
“These are highly qualified and experienced appointees, and I thank them for their willingness to serve,” Snyder said.
Appointments:
Brown is the owner of Brown Brothers Farms and has served as township supervisor of Sandusky for 28 years. He represents dairy farmers and replaces Daniel Javor.
Haindl is the owner of Jarhian Farms with more than 50 years of experience as a cattle producer and also served on the Michigan Potato Industry Commission. He represents cattle growers and replaces Timothy Andrews.
Reappointment:
Oeschger is the owner of Lindale Farms and has more than 45 years of experience in farming and beef production. He is involved with the Huron County Farm Bureau, Michigan Cattlemen’s Association, Thumb Breadbasket Distribution, and the Huron County Michigan State Extension Board. Oeschger earned a degree from Michigan State University in agriculture. He continues to represent cattle farmers.
Appointees serve three-year terms expiring May 31, 2018. Their appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
