Gov. Rick Snyder appoints Arvant to 46th District Court

Wednesday, July 8, 2015

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Cynthia Arvant, of Beverly Hills, to the 46th District Court in Oakland County. She fills the vacancy created by the resignation of Judge William J. Richards.

“Judge Arvant has a proven track record managing both a full docket as magistrate and court administrator in the 46th District,” Snyder said. “I am confident she will continue to serve the people of Oakland County with passion, integrity and fairness as district judge.”

Arvant has served as court administrator and part-time magistrate for the 46th District Court since July 2012. She began her legal career as a litigator for Mooney & Condino in Southfield and joined the Michigan attorney general’s office as an assistant attorney general until going into private practice in May 2005. She also served as a special assistant attorney general representing the Michigan Department of Human Services in the Court of Appeals. She has served on the Village of Beverly Hills Parks and Recreation Board, the Beverly Elementary PTA and the Huntington Woods Traffic Control Committee.

She earned a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University and a degree from the Detroit College of Law. Arvant will stand for election in 2016 for a full six-year term.
