Gov. Rick Snyder makes reappointment to Farm Produce Insurance Authority

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the reappointment of Aaron Somers, of Henderson, to the Farm Produce Insurance Authority.
Housed within the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the 10-member board establishes, administers and promotes the Farm Produce Insurance Fund.
“Aaron has been an essential board member and I thank him for his continued service,” Snyder said.
Somers is the owner and operator of Somers Brothers Farms where he oversees the farm business capital and manages strategic planning. He previously worked as a financial analyst at Greenstone Farm Credit Services. Somers earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Central Michigan University. He continues to represent producers from the largest Michigan organization representing general farm interests in Michigan.
Somers serves a three-year term expiring June 20, 2018. His appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
