Gov. Rick Snyder makes appointment to the Governor's Task Force on Child Abuse and Neglect

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment Dorene Allen, of Midland, to the Governor’s Task Force on Child Abuse and Neglect.
Housed in the Department of Health and Human Services, the 18-member panel includes professionals has knowledge and experience relating to the criminal justice system and issues of child physical abuse, neglect, sexual abuse and exploitation, and maltreatment-related fatalities.
“I thank Dorene for her willingness to serve on this important board and look forward to all of her work on behalf of Michigan’s most vulnerable children,” Snyder said.
Judge Allen is a presiding probate and juvenile judge for Midland County and oversees the Midland County Juvenile Care Center. She has participated in a number of local and statewide committees and recently served as a member of the Michigan Committee on Juvenile Justice as chair. Allen received a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Michigan and a law degree from Michigan State University. She represents judges and attorneys and replaces Linda Hallmark.
Allen will serve a three-year term expiring Dec. 31, 2018. Her appointment is not subject to the advice and consent of the state Senate.
