Gov. Rick Snyder makes appointments to the State Historic Preservation Review Board

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointments of Brian Rebain, of Detroit, and Grace Smith, of Rockford, to the State Historic Preservation Review board.
The nine-member board reviews and approves National Register nominations prior to their submission and provides general advice, guidance, and professional recommendations to the state Historic Preservation Office.
“Brian and Grace are accomplished professionals, and I thank them for serving on this important board,” Snyder said.
Rebain is the director of architecture for the Kraemer Design Group and is a registered architect. He holds both a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from the University of Michigan. He represents historical architecture and replaces Ronald Staley.
Smith is president of Historic Preservation and Architecture Consulting and is the project manager and historic preservation consultant for Designsmiths. She holds a dual bachelor’s degree in architecture and interior design from Lawrence Technological University. She represents historic preservation architecture and replaces Elisabeth Knibbe.
Members will serve four-year terms expiring Dec. 31, 2019. Their appointments are not subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
