Gov. Rick Snyder makes reappointments to the Michigan Task Force on Physician's Assistants

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the reappointments of Sara Basso, of Iron River, James Rogers, of Williamsburg, and William Palazzolo, of Dexter, to the Michigan Task Force on Physician’s Assistants.

 

The 13-member task force, housed in the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, oversees nearly 3,300 physician's assistants throughout Michigan and determines and approves their qualifications.

 

"I thank these appointees for their dedication and continued service on this important task force," Snyder said.

 

Basso is a partner at Basso & Basso Legal Services, where she specializes in arbitration, mediation and public policy. Basso holds a bachelor's degree from St. Mary's College and a law degree from Thomas M. Cooley Law School. She will continue to represent the general public.

 

Rogers is an emergency physician at Grayling Mercy Hospital and is retired from clinical surgery. He previously served as the medical director of cardiovascular and thoracic surgery at Genesys Regional Medical Center and retired from the U.S. Army Reserve Medical Corp. Rogers earned a bachelor’s degree from Albion College and a doctorate of medicine from Wake Forest University. He will continue to represent the board of medicine.

 

Palazzolo is the pre-op clinical director at the University of Michigan Health System. He holds a bachelor's degree in nutritional and food science and a master's degree in physician assistant studies from Wayne State University. He will continue to represent physician assistants.

 

Members will serve four-year terms expiring Dec. 31, 2019. Their appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
