Gov. Rick Snyder makes reappointment to the Regional Transit Authority

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the reappointment of Paul Hillegonds of Plymouth, to the Regional Transit Authority Board of Directors.
The Regional Transit Authority was created by PA 387 of 2012 and is governed by a 10-person board with one member named by the governor and the others by participating units of government. The governor’s appointee serves as chairperson of the board.
“I thank Paul for his ongoing public service and his current focus on enhancing transportation methods that work for all Michiganders,” Snyder said.
Hillegonds is senior vice president of corporate affairs for DTE Energy in Detroit. He previously served as president and CEO of Detroit Renaissance and as a representative in the Michigan House of Representatives from 1979-1996, including a term as co-speaker. Hillegonds earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Michigan and his law degree from the Thomas M. Cooley School of Law.
Hillegonds will serve a three-year term expiring March 31, 2019. His appointment is not subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
