Gov. Rick Snyder makes reappointments to the Michigan Apple Committee

LANSING, Mich. - Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the reappointments of Tony Blattner of Lowell and Arthur Lister, Jr. of Ludington, to the Michigan Apple Committee.
The committee's seven members develop and implement marketing programs and educational activities on behalf of more than 900 family apple growers in the state.
"Agriculture is a vital part of Michigan's economy and our heritage," Snyder said. "I am pleased to appoint Tony and Arthur to this important committee and look forward to their work of promoting Michigan's apple industry."
Blattner is the owner of Twin Bee Orchards LLC, a family business which consists of 125 acres of apple varieties. He is also the director of field operations for BelleHarvest Sales, Inc. where he oversees all aspects of supply base planning. Previously he worked for Nestle Infant Nutrition, leading their sourcing programs for raw ingredients, produce and direct packaging materials. Blattner holds a bachelor’s degree in horticulture from Michigan State University. He will continue to represent District 4.
Lister is the owner of Lister Orchards, Inc., a 900-acre farm of apples, tart cherries, sweet cherries, peaches, pears and plums. The farm is MAEAP verified and grows fruit crops for a variety of processors and fresh packers. Lister holds a bachelor’s degree in horticulture from Michigan State University. He will continue to represent District 5 growers.
Appointees will serve three-year terms expiring April 1, 2019. Their appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
