LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Jan Peabody, of Lapeer, to the Michigan Women’s Commission.
The 15-member commission improves the quality of life for Michigan women by providing support for female veterans, fighting human trafficking and assisting female entrepreneurs.
“I appreciate Jan’s commitment to enhancing the lives of women in Michigan and look forward to the contributions she will bring to this commission,” Snyder said.
Peabody is a supervisor of medical management for McLaren Health Plan in Flint, and previously served as a field nurse case manager for GENEX Services, LLC. She is a fellow of the 2010 Michigan Political Leadership Program, and serves as a board member of the Greater Lapeer Transportation Authority. She holds a bachelor’s degree in health studies from Western Michigan University. Peabody will fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Mary Whiteford.
Peabody will serve the remainder of a three-year term expiring July 15, 2016. Her appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
