LANSING, Mich. – Lt. Gov. Brian Calley today announced the appointment of John Thorhaurer of Chelsea and the reappointment of Robert Johnson of Kingsley to the Michigan Veterans' Facilities Board of Managers.

The seven-member volunteer board oversees admissions and member affairs at the state’s veterans homes in Marquette and Grand Rapids. Members represent the interest of veterans in both advisory and advocacy roles and are nominated for board service by fellow veterans and peers in veterans service organizations across the state.

"John and Robert bring valuable experiences to the board, and I am confident they will do great work on behalf of Michigan’s veterans," Calley said.

Appointment:
Thorhaurer served in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1985 to 1993 as a computer operations specialist. He also worked for the Armed Forces Retirement Home as director in 2005. He is a licensed nursing home administrator for the State of Michigan and holds a bachelor’s degree in science and a master’s degree in business, both from Averett College in Danville, Va. He will represent veterans and replaces Lino Pretto.

Reappointment:
Johnson is senior engineering technical analyst lead for Consumers Energy in Traverse City. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business from Davenport University, a master’s degree in business from the University of Michigan, and a doctorate in business administration from Baker College.
