Gov. Rick Snyder makes appointment and reappointment to the Military Appeals Tribunal

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Gaetan Gerville-Reache of Ada and the reappointment of Thomas Bourque of Ann Arbor to the Military Appeals Tribunal.
Housed within the Michigan Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, the Military Appeals Tribunal has appellate jurisdiction to hear and review the records of all court-martial decisions upon petition of an accused military member.
"I am confident that Gaetan and Thomas will be fair and effective members of the tribunal," Snyder said.
Appointment:
Gerville-Reache is a partner at Warner, Norcross and Judd, within their appellate and Supreme Court practice. Previously, he was a Lieutenant - Surface Warfare Officer in the U.S. Navy. He holds a bachelor’s degree in music and philosophy and a law degree from Northwestern University. He will replace Michael Distel.
Reappointment:
Bourque is currently a partner at Eby, Conner, Smillie & Bourque. He has more than 30 years of legal experience including trial litigation and appellate experience in the Court of Appeals in Michigan and Florida. Bourque holds a bachelors’ degree in history and political science from Miami University and a law degree from the University of Michigan Law School.
Members serve four-year terms expiring April 16, 2020. Their appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
