Gov. Rick Snyder makes reappointments to the State Board of Accountancy

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the reappointments of James Bayson of Kewadin and Barbra Homier of Ada to the State Board of Accountancy.
Housed in the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, the nine-member board oversees licensure and certification requirements for certified public accountants and public accounting firms.
“James and Barbra have been great additions to the board, and I’m glad they will each serve another term and continue using their expertise to make recommendations about accountancy standards in Michigan,” Snyder said.
Bayson serves on the board of directors for the the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants. He was an audit partner at Plante & Moran. He has a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Michigan. He will continue to represent certified public accountants.
Homier is a senior attorney at Foster Swift Collins & Smith PC. She previously served as a partner within the trial practice group at Varnum LLP. Homier holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Arizona and a law degree from Michigan State University's Detroit College of Law. She will continue to represent the general public.
Members serve four-year terms expiring June 30, 2020. Their appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
