Gov. Rick Snyder makes appointment, reappointments to the State Board of Examiners in Mortuary Science

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Thomas Chrzanowski of Taylor, and the reappointments of Patrick Miller of Troy, and Mark Ransford of Caro to the State Board of Examiners in Mortuary Science.

Housed within the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, the nine-member board provides oversight for the state's mortuary science licensees.

“I appreciate these members willingness to serve on the board, and I look forward to their continued input on issues of mortuary science,” Snyder said.

Appointment:

Chrzanowski is owner of Red Austin’s Funeral Coach Services. He is a member of the Michigan Funeral Service Sales Association. He will represent the general public and fill the vacancy created by the passing of Russel Kohler.

Reappointments:

Miller is senior vice president and CEO of Hospice of Michigan. He holds a bachelor's degree in nursing from Wayne State University, a bachelor's degree in biology, and a master's degree in business administration and health services administration, both from the University of Michigan. He will continue to represent the general public.

Ransford is funeral director at Ransford Collon Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc. He is former president of the Michigan Funeral Directors Association District #7, a member of the Association's continuing education taskforce and chairman of the Association's Professional Education Committee. He received a bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan and a bachelor's degree in mortuary science from Wayne State University. He will continue to represent professionals.

Chrzanowski will serve the remainder of a term expiring June 30, 2017. Miller and Ransford will serve four-year terms expiring June 30, 2020. Their appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
