Gov. Rick Snyder makes appointment to the Great Lakes Protection Fund Board of Directors

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Mark Meijer of Grand Rapids to the Great Lakes Protection Fund Board of Directors.
The Great Lakes Protection Fund is a nonprofit corporation that supports collaborative actions to improve the health of the Great Lakes ecosystem. The fund's board of directors meets quarterly and governs fund operations.
“Mark is an experienced professional and I believe he will do great work on the Board,” Snyder said.
Meijer is president of Life E.M.S. Ambulance. He is a current member of the Board of Directors and Management Committee for Meijer, Inc., and is a previous member of the Public Safety Communications Interoperability Board. Meijer holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Aquinas College. He will replace Patty Birkholz.
Meijer serves the remainder of a two-year term expiring Oct. 11, 2016.
