Gov. Rick Snyder makes appointment to Western Michigan University board of trustees

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of William Pickard of Bloomfield Hills to the Western Michigan University board of trustees.
The eight-person board is the governing body of the University.
"William brings decades of experience to the board, and I am confident he will do substantial work to ensure the success of the University,” said Snyder.
Pickard is chairman and CEO of Global Automotive Alliance. He serves as a member of the Board of Directors for numerous organizations such as Michigan National Bank Corporation, Business Leaders for Michigan, and the National Urban League. In 2001, Pickard was awarded Michiganian of the Year for his business success, civic leadership and philanthropy.
Pickard holds a bachelor's degree from Western Michigan University, a master's degree from the University of Michigan and a Ph.D. from Ohio State University.
Pickard will serve the remainder of an eight-year term expiring Dec. 31, 2020. His appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
