Gov. Rick Snyder makes appointment to the Michigan Board of Athletic Trainers

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment Jeremy Marra of Saline to the Michigan Board of Athletic Trainers.

Housed within the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, the 11-member board assists in overseeing the licensure and practice of athletic trainers.

“I thank Jeremy for his willingness to serve on this important board and look forward to his future contributions,” Snyder said.

Marra is the athletic training coordinator at The University of Michigan. He previously served as an athletic training service provider/fellow for the United States Olympic Committee in Lake Placid, New York. He sits on the Special Olympics Michigan Medical Advisory Committee, National Athletic Trainers’ Association and the Great Lakes Athletic Trainers’ Association. He is also the medical logistics coordinator for the Special Olympics Michigan Games Committee.

Marra holds a bachelor’s degree in athletic training/sports medicine from Central Michigan University, a master’s degree in kinesiology and physical medicine and rehabilitation from Michigan State University, and a certification in sports administration from the United States Sports Academy. He will represent athletic trainers and replace Rosemary Snyder.

Marra will serve the remainder of a four-year term expiring June 30, 2018. His appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the state Senate.
