Gov. Rick Snyder makes appointment to Residential Builders' and Maintenance and Alteration Contractors' Board

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Stephen MacGuidwin of East Grand Rapids to the Residential Builders' and Maintenance and Alteration Contractors' Board.

Housed within the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, the nine-member board assists with licensing and regulating the construction, alteration, or improvement of residential structures.

"Stephen brings valuable experience to this board and I am confident he will effectively serve in this role," Snyder said.

MacGuidwin is an attorney at Michigan Health Lawyers. He worked as a trial and litigation group associate with Varnum LLP in Grand Rapids. MacGuidwin holds a bachelor's degree in computer science from the University of Michigan and a master's degree in business administration and law degree from Michigan State University.

He will represent the general public and replace Gary August.

MacGuidwin will serve a four-year term expiring March 31, 2020. His appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
